Destino is a fun short, but it’s worth noting that it was actually created many years after both Dali & Disney had died, based partially on Dali’s storyboards and taking inspiration from his paintings for the backgrounds. We’ll sadly never know what the actual collaboration between Dali & Disney would have been like, as Disney lost interest in animation as pure art after the initial commercial failure of Fantasia and a couple of other short film anthologies that followed it.
